Ok people, here is some remastered textures. Quick background info first:
1. Unofficial patch guys are probably not going to help. They don't want to improve the textures, and there are problems with the engine having set texture resolutions instead of resizing.
2. Remastering the textures broke transparency, so even if you fix the resolution issue, all the transparency textures need to be "fixed". Probably needs to be set with color maps, but I stopped caring after finding out the textures don't load properly. Somebody needs to either remaster them properly, or delete the transparent textures to use defaults.
3. The modding tools are severely outdated. Everything is decades old, and barely works. The patch guys don't seem to care about updating them. Only the trenchboom guy seems to be doing anything, but that's primarily a map editor.
4. 32-bit file limitations. You can't make a 2GB+ pak file. Probably best to not include the multiplayer textures in any finished pak, or do that separate.
5. Speaking of modding tools, you can't use quake 2 tools to mod Daikatana files, since the files are not compatible. You might be able to edit the textures, but the pak files require Daikatana editors.
6. Even if you fix the transparency issue, the engine still needs to be updated to support HD textures.
Good luck, I've done what I can, the programmers have to fix the rest, and then maybe we can have some nice HD textures.
