You guys need to fix the ui and menus. Why can i enter and exit some menus with their respective key but others I have to esc? why do some menus use c to exit while others use esc and others still use X? why is c the default to skip dialog when itis also the crouch button? It's all a big confusing mess. Please fix it.
I always exit by esc and enter by left muse button click. Whats the problem then?
Sometimes I can do that. I press "I" to go into inventory, do my thing, even go into other UI screens, then I can press "I" again to exit UI totally. But sometimes I can't do it. Maybe it has something to do with how far or deep you are in the UI.

I could do this totally in Witcher 3: every shortcut key, such as B for Beastiary, I for inventory, M, K, etc., enters the respective UI screen and also exits it.

Sometimes, pressing Esc exits to the previous level of the UI, but doesn't exit the UI totally. That was what the OP meant.

You can press I to exit from UI back to the game directly (no need to press Esc multiple times). You can also press I to enter the UI main page. Press K for Crafting, O for Inventory, P for Character, and J for Journal. None of these are shown in the key binding list. Witcher 3 has unmappable keys too, but at least they are shown in bindings.

Agreed. First thing I noticed when I started playing 2 days ago. In fact, the mouse cursor jumped around so much on the character creation screen that when I confirmed and started the game my girl had green hair in the mirror because I didn't notice it had changed on me.

There's another instance where the prompt to press TAB to confirm an action doesn't work. It only showed up once and seemed totally out of place.

I'm unplugging my controller and seeing if that changes anything. I use mouse/kb.

Totally needed another month of polish at least.

What annoys the hell out of me is when I look for something on the map and exit back to game. Then I press "I" to get to inventory but the map pops up!! Why?
I have to Esc the map and then go to inventory...

The whole Menus and navigation between them is so messed up.

so much details to look at, fixed, the list only gets bigger... I guess they basically need to start over from scratch, keeping the city.
Well, that's what pandering to console players looks like, even if majority of your pre-orders is from PC players.
Turns out it wasn't even relevant at all, since console players got screwed anyway (at least way worse than PC players).

I use esc for everything so I didn't really notice. But if this is the case, my guess is different teams working on different menus and they didn't have a unified plan at first, and when combining all the menus together, they forgot/didn't have time/QA didn't notice/QA was too overworked to notice/devs ignored it.

This is annoying. Especially if you were crouching when entering a conversation and trying to stand up so you are not looking at the person from the floor and end up accidentally skipping dialogue.
