J Lo: I don't care for VR myself (I think it's a gimmick, like 3D monitors), but I wouldn't mind if it were implemented for users that want it. If the game does get VR support, it wouldn't be for a very long time. Maybe a year or more. As much as I love this game, it does have a mountain of issues that need to be fixed. Their priority after ironing most of the problems would be DLC/expansions. Implementing VR requires elbow room the devs just don't have.
This kind of hot take is very indicative of someone who has never tried actual VR. They stand out like sore thumbs.

I had but it was older VR so I'd say its better to phrase it as ''Someone who who has never tried modern VR'' As the older VR attempts done has been rather lacking and was gimmicky for sure that never went that far.. Fun for sure though the older VR was.. But modern VR while still seeming to have abit of gimmicky factor too it isn't that gimmicky just bery slightly.. though there is stuff getting made as add-on or whatever you wanna call those add-on devices for VR things that is fully gimmicky indeed at the stage those extra things are (There is literally a extremely expensive device that will feed you that as far as I know is still a Japanese based thing will edit in a link when I find the vid about it) found a link to one such Gimmicky thing for proof https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN5bW8fgJuU

temps: How many AAA games have to be released for VR before you will concede VR is not some gimmick that will fade away? Should we start counting?

Star Wars: Squadrons
Half-Life: Alyx
Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond
Elite Dangerous
Lone Echo
Asgard's Wrath
The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners
Vader Immortal 1
Vader Immortal 2
Vader Immortal 3
Lone Echo 2
Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge

That's a lot of big corporate intellectual properties involved in the VR universe if it's just a passing fad or "gimmick."

Lets get real here: AAA game developers and Facebook don't sink billions of dollars of game development money into developing elaborate "gimmicks" that have no hope of gaining traction in the market... If they did, they wouldn't remain in business very long, because that sounds like an extremely unwise business decision.

Just look at how much money Facebook spent acquiring Oculus, for example. Sure, Facebook has a lot of money to throw around. But they are accountable to shareholders for their business decisions and consequently don't tend to put billions of dollars behind failing ideas.
Nintendo is a good example as throughtout the years they have spends loads on purelly gimmicks that had no hope of gaming traction from the days of the Nes onward and having made several things that was purelly gimmick pased for example there was this robot thing they made that was only useful for two or so games and another good example there was a gameboy sewing machine.. that was a actual thing where a sewing machine one needed a gameboy for ... and the Virtual Boy is a good example of a full on game console of spending lots of money on a gimmick that hadn't panned out at all
