Tried running admin mode, didnt help.
made sure AV is not interfering.
Made sure to wait until it fails by itself.
800gb left on the drive, so it`s not a space issue.

I had the same issue. I uninstalled the game, then installed as admin. Then installed the update as admin. It took awhile without appearing to make progress, then said successfully installed.

Let's just say the latest patcher is a mess, the online patcher is just as bad. What helps is to reinstall the game in the current version without patching.

Either that or wait for new update files. Update 1.04 seems to cause more problems than it solves.


Btw: The Log DOES indicate that the updater has no rights to modify the files.
I had that with other games, my antivirus software thought, there might be an encrypter virus at work changing protected files. I had to create exceptions for that update file and / or game directory.

The offline patch installer is completely broken and the only way to actually get it updated is through GOG galaxy.
The biggest problem I got with the 1.04 patch is massive screen tearing.IT can be fixed by adjusting the V-Sync. it does make the game more stable to run but there are still a massive amount of bugs that kill the immersion. half the time audio syncs out or the characters don't animate at all while the character is talking. I wonder if this game will ever get truly fixed or stay in this limbo of constant bug fixes that keep creating newer ones.

Verify the game files --

Go into your library, right click on Cyberpunk 2077 and click Properties. Change the tab to local files and click 'Verify integrity of game files'.

It might take a bit but it will scan for and redownload missing / corrupted files.

Got so tired of the offline installer that I went with the GOG galaxy download.

I usually use offline installers, but this time I'lls wait with the download, first of all because I expect a few massive updates, but also because the offline installer is much bigger than the installed game. They really should split it.
