EchoOfMidgar: It does not help me with the framerate problem. It remains so inconsistent.
I don't know what hardware you have. I'm playing on a I5-7600K, 16 GB RAM, Radeon RX590 (8 GB), SSD. The game at default set graphics to ULTRA, but that was way too high. I've spent two hours to play with the settings and my GPU drivers. Given that your WIndows is properly configured and optimized, GPU drivers (and others) are up to date and your hardware isn't too old, you should get good results with the right settings.
First I'd try to lower (or better disable) Screen Space Reflections. It not only looks terrible (at least in 1080p) but also eats a whole lot of performance!
And what really helps, while maintaining good visual quality, is to set Dynamic Fidelity FX CAS:
Set the target FPS to 50 or 60.
Set the min resolution slider to 60 or 70 percent.
If that's not enough, go on with these, one by one:
Lower cascade shadows resolution and distance. (medium or low)
Lower AO setting. (medium or low)
Lower local shadows quality, resolution and distance (medium or low)
However, if you own a capable NVIDIA card, use DLSS!
if you have AMD, use Anti-Lag and ENhanced Sync (Or freesync if you monitor supports it).
sardinha0000: Is it just me or does it take absolutely forever to install? Stuck on 56% for a while now, just after it finishes downloading and starts to install it. 100% disc use the entire time.
That's what I'm talking about. The installer comes with 4,5 GB of size. But the installation performs file patching, that means it patches the changes into the existing files rather than overwrite them. The advantage of this method is that the installer size is quite low. But the file patching process takes a lot of time, and also a LOT of free space. Because it has to unpack, change and repach the related filesm which requires free space double the size of the patched files during the process. When it's done it will clean up these and you will end up with a lot of free space.
That's why I'd prefer common patches with classic overwriting method over file patching!
I saw a lot of people havbing problems with performance and stability! First you should at least own a rig that's not too old, otherwise it's not a surprise. My PC is now three years old, but I run this game ith med-high settings at stable 55-60 FPS. No crashes. But also I'm pretty sure that it will get a few more patches and then will run much better! Also learn how to setup Windows and you hardware the right way. Many people don't learn about that and think they can run any game just like that. That's unfortunately wrong.
