Why in the name of everything cheesy and macaroni has it been almost two full years, but I *still* can't choose to use a lower rarity quick hack if I have a higher rarity one?
While I inherently don't like limitations like this, may I ask why you would want to use lower rarity quickhacks?
The higher rarity ones do more damage, can jump more times, longer effect durations etc.

I'm just looking for additional arguments, for I can list one reason why we should be able to use lower quickhacks: when I need to take out a single - SINGLE - target for a mission, quickhacks that jump even once will lead to the missions failing.

Not once I've had that happen to me... is that actually possible? I think that for the quickhacks to jump you need to have the appropriate perk, it's not something that comes from the quickhacks themselves, but I may be wrong here.

Also, I remember that a while ago, while I was choosing quickhacks from the menu, I actually had all the rarity levels listed and was able to choose which one I wanted. Have they removed that?

You're right, my bad. I was mixing the quickhacks themselves with the Cyberdeck Operating Systems.

That means the solution to my problem is apparently to downgrade my OS when doing stealth kill missions.

Speaking of those missions, a fun fact: every "take out X person"-mission got optional dialogue, some with multiple option choices if you can manage to stealthily reach your target without raising any alarms.

Well, I read something somewhere about doing the Cyberpsychos non-lethally being easier with green or blue... I forget which hack, one that does electric damage, but the purple and orange one cause an explosion which can be lethal.

But for me, someitmes I just don't need the extra functionality that the higher rarity provides and would rather have the cheaper RAM cost of the lower rarity version.

EDIT: It's Cyberware Malfunction. The blue one lasts just as long as the purple one, costs 1 RAM less, and doesn't have the explosion, which may kill the target.

I in particular would like to use the epic short circuit version because the legendary passive is fucking broken, I spent a lot of time wondering why all of a sudden I was terminator and killing everyone just by looking at them, I even downloaded a mod that allowed me to tweak the damage I take and deal and even when my damage was *90%* lower I was still killing everyone with too much ease, and on the highest difficulty. I don't want that, I want to deal normal damage but still use short circuit in combat, but apparently the game won't let me, and I seem to be one of the few that want to use lower tier quickhacks because I can't find a mod that would just let me do it

Have you tried removing all the quickhacks from your cyberdeck and then store any that you have in your inventory that you do not want to use into your stash?
