I'm not here to pile on but felt strongly enough that I wanted to convey how disappointed I am with Cyberpunk 2077 at release. All in all, when it comes to new releases, I am pretty forgiving and don't expect everything with be perfect. The Witcher games; all of them are some of my favorite titles in history and I have been playing PC games and building my own rigs since they have existed (Yes, I am that old) I switched to consoles for most action titles a few years ago although I still play a lot of strategy games on my PC.
With that said, the state of this game at release is deplorable. I tried playing it on both an Xbox Series S and an Xbox One X; so neither is a base console and the thing about consoles is they share common hardware so unlike a PC there are fewer variables to consider when testing a game prior to release.
Not only was the game unplayable, frequently crashing to the "desktop;" developers were quoted at release speaking to how well it performs on consoles. Had it been delayed on consoles or not available, I might have picked it up on PC but again, was assured it would run by the developers themselves. I could have chosen to play on PC but wanted to sit on my butt in the living room and stare at a big 4K TV. This is the kind of behavior I have come to expect from EA not CDPR.
That's it. I'm not going to go into a lengthy diatribe as to all of the problems with this game; just wanted to share my disappointment and loss of confidence on a game company I had come to believe was different.
The industry is in a sad state with game releases. I had already given up pre-orders with most and am sadly adding CDPR to that embargo list.
From what I saw of the game, the story looked great and I may look to play in the future when it is actually "released" (February?) but I'll be picking it on sale or not at all.
