Up front I will say that based on the reviews on the store page (and elsewhere off site) that yes, I too am not in favor of a DRM free store including any product which isn't actually DRM free. However, no one is paying me to fight that fight, so have at it.
As to the map itself, I did not buy it here, but got a free code with the game guide (book).
First, it's a fully functioning map, with lots of information on it. Has a subjectively pretty map almost as if it was taken from Google maps. It has all the locations marked on the map - if there's a filter for it in the in-game map, the same goes here. It has a tracker so you can mark off which events you've completed (sort of like a Journal :) ). So here's 100% functionality of the in game map (perhaps with less lag) duplicated.
What's special and different than what you get for "free" in the game?
- Breakdown of the types of things into their sub type. Example: Gigs are broken down into 'Gun for Hire', 'Thievery', 'Search & Recover', and so on. Same for the rest of the map locations.
- Hidden Gems: All those little unique events which aren't part of a formal mission/quest. 190 of them.
- You can add notes to the map in case they overlooked something worth noting.
Worth $5 USD? You decide. I doubt I would have been happy with my purchase, but I wouldn't be furious about it either.
