I'm a really fan of CDPR and have all Witcher games on Steam and GOG... Hell I even bought the Nintendo Switch one...

And I'm really hyped for Cyberpunk and pre-ordered for me and a friend...

But this news is really a punch in the stomach...

I've read a couple hundred threads on Reddit and other forums... and I'm still not sure what to think...

I will not cancel any pre-order 'cause I still want very hard to play it...

But we need some clarifications or statement to be made...

It's going to have monetizations? like DLC or Subs? Micro-transactions? At MP only? Are they still figuring out?

I get that if's a type of monetization for MP only as a way to support it, it may be fine...

But as a dying hard fan of Mass Effect series... I watched Bioware die a horrible death...

And I don't want to see my beloved CDPR do the same...

I still trust you, CDPR....

But it's time to speak up
If you're not sure what to think, then wait. We've got many months before the game comes out. Maybe they really have fallen to the dark side, or maybe this is a tempest in a teapot and people are making mountains out of molehills. Either way, we'll know more as time goes on and we get closer to the final release, or after the release.

If you're really worried, cancel your pre-order (if you've made one) and wait for the game to come out and read up on the reviews and buy it or skip it based on informed feedback. Otherwise, there's no rush here. There's nothing that will change if you know everything you need to know NOW or you learn what you need to learn in a month. Cyberpunk 2077 won't come out until April, so there's plenty of time to learn whatever it is you need to learn.

I've read your reply here and at the other "more angry thread"...

And I agree with you...

I just got scared for a moment, you know?

We have a saying in my country that goes more or less like this "a cat burned in hot water is afraid of cold water"...

We'll have to wait and see...

CDPR has proven worthy so far...

I will not cancel my pre-orders :)

See you in 2077 :)

No microtransactions.
Thanks for the links
Also to add to this. The Multiplayer, which is still pretty early in development, is a completely separate game by a separate team. This monetization will not in any way, shape or form affect the singleplayer game. That is going to be what we expect from CDPR. A TW3 like game with several 100 hours of gamplay similar in depth etc. You know the drill.

CEO Adam Kiciński “As far as the monetization of multiplayer for Cyberpunk is concerned, we believe right now it’s definitely too early to share any details on that or give guidance; the project is in a relatively early stage. We keep experimenting – that’s our first multiplayer game. We check various options and possibilities, and it’s definitely not the time to point you to a specific direction on that. Of course you can expect that we won’t change our general policy towards “deals with gamers” so I expect wise monetization and – always – value for money.”

Interestingly enough, it is exactly the multiplayer that is being developed by Digital Scapes, which is made up of ex-Bioware employees -- you know, the company that OP "watched die a horrible death"... Really makes you think...
