See I just started heavily modding my game to overhaul some mechanics, features, graphics and add some features that I felt should've been apart of the game. I never noticed an issue with the map crashing until after heavy mods, went a few days and several hours without crashing then all of a sudden when loading the map from the menu or fast travel, it began to crash. I thought maybe it was the better mini map or something causing a issue because again hadn't noticed this issue until after modding, however I just started to use fast travel more frequently.
You're crashing due to this issue regardless of a modded game or vanilla spec?

Can confirm uninstalling reshade fixes the game crashing when opening map. I have pulled up the map and fast travel points numerous times without crashing, however when reshade was installed the game would crash instantly openning the map up if i didn't launch the map soon after restarting.

Yes, uninstalling Reshade solved the map crashing problem for me as well. Until either CDPR or the Reshade team issues a fix, it's best to just not use Reshade at the moment.

Hopefully CDPR fixes this problem in a future update. My game doesn't crash, but it would just stutter so bad, and it's really painful to play when you're stuck in a firefight and you need to change your weapon loadout since the game would stutter the moment I closed the inventory. This happens to the other options as well like the map, crafting, character, and journal.

One question. Does that deletion of the usersettings.json also result in the resetting of the game settings you've made in the game? If yes, does that mean the player will need to reconfigure their settings all over again every time they launch the game? Thanks.

Here's a solution I've found straight from CDPR themselves. That said, I haven't actually tried this fix. Maybe if any of you have tried it, you could tell us the results. Hope this helps!

playing around with ingame shadow settings worked for some people, like me.
same with reshade. in some cases and under certain conditions, reshade seems to help "smoothing" out the problem enough to get the game running, for ohers it does not.

but its good to know they are aware of it now.

Yep, I'm glad that they're actually working on fixing the issue right now. I was afraid that this problem might be experienced only by a small segment of their customer base and therefore the possibility of our concerns being neglected.

Is this a 1.6 specific issue? I'm still on 1.52 finishing up a nomad run, looking for secrets. I do get slowdown switching from map view and get some assets failing to load in time on the main map if I have too much open in the background like a web browser with multiple tabs. Closing down background apps and even a fresh restart does address these issues. I had a problem in the Last Ride gig where you're supposed to find a body in a tub in an old motel but it doesn't spawn. Fixed by reloading to a save before entering the area. Body spawned correctly. Also have an issue with the Ebunike run with Rogue. While I am able to get a scene with Rogue talking about a Kang Tao shipment on the ship, another similar scene with a woman's body in a shower as well as two audio clips on a laptop no longer appear. The boss fight is triggered before I am able to enter the area. I'm not sure if it has anything to do with me siding with Meredith on this run. Is this scene only viewable if I do not side with Meredith?

Hi everyonee! Been playin for days without a map, is anyone here heavily modded?? I think i might have found a fix.

If none of the below works, try downloading RESHADE newest version cuz that worked for me.

Cascade shadow range and resolution -> low/mid it works for some people with either of those settings
Distant Shadow Resolution -> Low i rmb readin this somewhere on reddit i can try to find the link if anyone need it
Ambient occlusion - mid/low i set mine on mid and havent crash yet

I havent tried switch my cascade shadow range n resolution to mid yet since that might be the source of the problem + reshade, the distant shadow resolution is 50/50 like it can be the cause of crash as well for some ppl but not for others

EDIT: Okay i changed ambient occlusion to high n still workin w the occascional crashes when open map but i'll take it, better than nothin at this point lmao. Dont switch distant shadow resolution to high cuz defo caused mine to crash but u can try, might not crash for u as its 50/50 for some ppl

EDIT 2: Sorry for the long post it still crashes sometimes not a lot so i just uninstall Reshade n that did the job as someone mentioned in the forum

found a weird fix. within reshade when you have the game running i ticked all the boxes in "add ons" the depth thing, seemed to fix it so far.

This solution work for me too, well for three hours at least until the game once again crashed after opening the map, but still this is still better than having it crash on map constantly.
I hope the cdpr will come up with a proper update fix for this problem.
