Tried running the game on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, and it crashed. Used Radeon 580, Ryzen 8core 1700x, 32GB RAM and it crashed and gives driver error.

I think this is one for tech support, as Win 7 is listed in the minimum requirements.

I love Win7 but with tech advancements, win10 needed to be loaded. I've tried CP on win7 and kept running into issues all over. My fix was to clone my WIN7 HD then free upgrade one to WIN10. then set an alternate boot from your CMOS.

Well, I suppose that is one way of solving it. Anyone else running this game in Windows 7 with AMD drivers?

And sorry for posting this in the wrong thread. I had no idea where to ask about this.
I play it on Windows 7 with almost no issues. How are you launching the game? Via Galaxy or the offline installers? I ran into an issue for a little while (and seem to have fixed it) where I wasn't able to launch the game via Galaxy after the patch prior to 1.3, it'd just crash immediately. However, I was still able to run the game via the direct executable, so it was an issue with Galaxy, not the game.

Tried this and still a no-go. Starting up the game executable still leads to a black screen with an error about the display drivers, Using AMD radeon. Thanks for the help.

Hmm I have an Nvidia card so yeah, I'm afraid I can't make any further suggestions other than to contact support. Sorry I couldn't help more!

Your help has been greatly appreciated. I wasn't really expecting anyone to solve my problem. Maybe I should contact AMD and ask them about this issue?

In a similar situation: Window 7, Nvidia Graphics, Ram 8Gb, files on Hard Disk

I can run the game by directly running the exe
-- exe has properties: Compatibility, run in compatibility mode for Windows 7, and run as administrator
-- hold down the left shift key when starting to run the game (this enforces 'run as administrator' - Windows weirdness)

In the OP's case, there could be some oddness that means it doesn't work for them.

I scoffed at this idea. The PC is owned by a friend of mine, who has been trying to get the game running for quite a while now. I told him to try the shift key, and it works so far. Will report back if I have another issue.

I can't give you the exact setting(s) that fixed the issue for me but I got it working after messing with the "Config Overhaul for Cyberpunk 2077" tool. Maybe you could get things working with that? At the very least, it's worth a try and at most, it may get things working AND running better.
I started it in Feb of this year (2022) and it installed & ran fine on Win7 Pro 64-bit, but my Nvidia 870 couldn't run it well enough for me, so I ended up playing other games instead. I've gotten a new Radeon RX 6800 since and have been spinning it back up. Only problem I'm aware of is something that seems pretty common on Win10 and Win11 too - game seems to benchmark exactly the same on Low and Ultra graphics settings in some cases. Currently it's doing that for me, but I don't think it was earlier on another monitor.

Trying to figure out why now. A CPU bottleneck would explain it, but I'm only seeing CPU loads of ~50-70% in Task Manager and in Process Explorer. And I don't think my CPU would bottleneck it THAT badly.
CD Projekt Red Does Not Support Windows 7 Anymore
Do you want a supported version? Play 1.31 and gather the installer from the Seven Seas because GOG doesn't care about you unfortunately, only "parrot owners" do. Do you very much want a higher version or to have the DLC later? There is no higher and no DLC ever for you, zero guarantee it'll work well or is tested, the company screwed its customers over.

Quote of the pile of words:
"Due to technical limitations of non-native DirectX 12 implementation on Windows 7, and the end of, or limited, support for graphics drivers, game updates will not be supporting Windows 7 after June 15, 2022. If updated with patches published after that time, the game may stop working on this operating system.

If you are a Windows 7 user and encounter issues with the game after updating to the 1.5 version, you can revert to a previous [1.31] version of the game (for best compatibility)."

Then it shows GOG Galaxy for reversal that doesn't support the OS anymore. Absurd of stupidity, honestly.
