I don't get this at all. Went to check what review score Phantom Liberty had on here and started seeing all of the DRM stuff. I've never used Galaxy as far as I remember for this game though and have been playing fine since 2.0 released without any type of crashing apart from recently when I switched to a new PC that was having BSOD problems not connected to the game. I think that's sorted now after changing ram and wifi but not sure.

I did get paranoid reading all of this though wondering if I needed an internet connection to play, so started the game up after turning internet off and it was fine too.

So no idea how this is happening for some and not others. As an extra note, realising that there'd probably be a fair amount of updates around now I've had nothing to do with any mods since starting playing 2.0. Maybe that's helped, not sure.

It'll be good if this is sorted out soon though so we can read about exactly what the issue was and how it was resolved.

We know what it is well enough. CDPR added a check to the GoG version of the game to see if Galaxy was running, but did it in a way that it REQUIRED Galaxy to be running or the game fails and crashes. Disable the check and the game runs fine, though blocks access to the DLC without additional workarounds.

Also without loading the game directly from Galaxy, you have to run offline and manually connect your GoG account in order to receive your earned rewards and Twitch drops even using something like the Heroic launcher which runs the games directly through GoG's own API. If you run online you get "To claim your rewards, launch the game from GoG Galaxy 2.0 after logging into your account"...

The rewards are deliberate to force customers into using Galaxy which their own policy says they will never do...

What you stated at the start isn't right for all of us though. I've never used Galaxy and have played since 2.0 and all the way through the Phantom Liberty story fine without any of those issues like I said. I get that it's happening for some of you though so that to me is the problem. I might be ok now but eventually I could have the same thing to deal with and I don't get why it's fine for some of us and not for others.

I don't use extras/rewards from pre-orders/twitch, etc, in the game either if they don't load without Galaxy so no idea how that's ever going to be sorted out. It probably won't be I'd guess unless Galaxy is used or there's some final pack released when they're done with patches that adds some of that to the game via offline installers or something.

If you're using the offline installers, then the Galaxy DRM is disabled. If you're playing online using GOG's own API such as through Heroic Games Launcher then the DRM is enforced and DLC/Rewards blocked (and previously the crash bug) unless you're launching the game with Galaxy or using workarounds.

With the dll intact the game no longer crashes at the logo splash screens after the 2.01 update thankfully. Now we just have to wait 12 seconds at the Breaching screen for the game to give up on contacting Galaxy before it'll let us into the main menu, ofc it's online this way so DLC and rewards are locked out thanks to the DRM even though our accounts are authenticated. Disabling the dll and manually connecting to the account allows it to work.

Amazingly scummy practice from GOG. False advertising even.
Thank you all for the replies. It looks like I will have to hold off buying the DLC unless this issue is sorted out (assuming it ever gets sorted out).

Too bad about the twitch rewards and what not being DRM'd though. I heard Cyber Engine Tweaks lets you use console commands to get the weapons anyway but it sucks to see GOG and CDPR go this route. With DRM I don't see the point of buying games from this site.

Before they fixed the crashing with 2.01, I couldn't get to the title screen even using the offline installers unless I was running the game through Galaxy.

I can`t see a DRM, i can start Cyberpunk 2077 without Internet Connection and GOG Launcher.
I start the Launch Icon from Game Folder, on the screen with the confirmation with the space bar it takes a while until it continues.
At first I thought that the keyboard input wasn't working.
Hope it helps.
For what it's worth, I'm always launching from Galaxy, and after the 2.0_PhL update, I had crashes or the game not going further than the 'press space to breach' nonsense. Killing the process, cleaning up the multiple Galaxy processes and restarting Galaxy sometimes work and let me through to the actual game.

This was before 2.01, since I couldn't update to this version (even after it automatically reloads the whole game).

The mods had been entirely removed before installing 2.0, and I don't have Phantom Liberty.

So it may just be in a bad state after updating to 2.0_PhL or after, and not always start properly regardless of Galaxy or not.

You can also use "-skipStartScreen" as Parameter to skip the "press space"-screen entirely to avoid that delay.

Using that unfortunately prevents the DRM from loading which means you can't access your rewards.

Sorry I don't use these forums much and had totally forgot about posting here. Yeah it sounds like a bit of a mess and hopefully it's sorted out soon. With the rewards I think there's a claim rewards type thing I see when starting the game up but I just guess that I'm not going to get that stuff if I'm offline. One thing they could've done is to add offline files too for the rewards you get when you activate them but they obviously haven't for whatever reason. Maybe some mods will eventually help with this though.

I don't have GoG Galaxy installed, and I can confirm this. I have CET, and I have all the "exclusive" rewards, including GWENT, Wolf School and Twitch drops.

Let me know if you want the codes (and what you want codes for; there is a LOT of them!).
