The game crashes whenever you sit in your chair on corporate start.

In the bosses office, it crashes almost instantly when you sit in the chair.

I am running windows 10, with the latest nvidia drivers.

On the city gang start it crashes when I walk out of the bar.
The moment you walk out of the bar. Maybe it's a loading issue for something?

Help?

I have attached a bug report.

This question / problem has been solved by faverodefaveroimage
I have de same. Thr problem is on the street punk too. In stacktrace.txt is:
"Error reason: Unhandled exception
Expression: EXCEPTION_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION (0xC000001D)
Message: The thread tried to execute an invalid instruction.
File: <Unknown>(0)"

Edit.
I may be a cpu problem, i have Intel g4560 and it dosn't have "AVX Instruction Set ".
FX-8310 and Intel Core i5-3570K they have AVX Instructions

dual x5675 with a gtx 1660 here.

I also lack avx but I don't know if that's the issue. None of my other games have this issues and it only crashes at specific spots.

Crashes on nomad cutscene ends when I am loading into the city.
Can confirm this. All prologue missions crash at some point. I have an i5-750 for which CPU-Z lists these instruction sets: MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, SSE4.1, SSE4.2, EM64T, VT-x.

I haven't further debugged this yet to find out what instruction causes it to blow up, but it really might be AVX-related :/ (it is, see Edit)

Unless CDPR patch this game to not require whatever extension this concerns, I think we older CPU folks might have a problem...

For reference:
Error reason: Unhandled exception
Expression: EXCEPTION_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION (0xC000001D)
Message: The thread tried to execute an invalid instruction.
File: <Unknown>(0)

Edit:
WinDbg shows

EXCEPTION_RECORD: (.exr -1)
ExceptionAddress: 00007ff7c43c11b0 (Cyberpunk2077+0x0000000001d711b0)
ExceptionCode: c000001d (Illegal instruction)

FAILED_INSTRUCTION_ADDRESS:
Cyberpunk2077+1d711b0
00007ff7`c43c11b0 c5fc100c8a vmovups ymm1,ymmword ptr [rdx+rcx*4]

and vmovups is an AVX instruction (see felixcloutier.com/x86/movups), so it is as we feared.

Crash in all start... Corpo when sitting in the chair... Nomad after cut scene in NC... Street kid when leaving the bar... same spot no matter what... I have a Xeon X5650 and AMD rx590 and was running beautiful... so thats mean we need to wait for a patch for us :(

And I know its AVX issue for old CPUs...

Yeah I know about AVX issues for old CPUs... geez...
wow, greate that you know, but we ve any chance thaht cdpr d like to fix it?
high rated
AVX problem.

Lazy programing as AVX is barely used at all and just very quickly called for in specific transnational areas of the game.

We must pressure CDPR to release a patch for non AVX CPUs that are clearly more powerful than the ones they posted as minimum requirements (ex.: 990x 6 core which easily reaches 4.5Ghz all core with low voltages).

Larian did the same thing with BG3 and then finally released a non AVX patch so that the game could work with non AVX CPUs, Horizon Zero Dawn too, months later they patched it. The game is slower in the AVX portions for non AVX complaint CPUs but they are more than capable to work with said older non AVX CPUs, they game just need to be patched.
AMD Ryzen Works.
Sent them this:

"Hello, CDPR

As you know many people still use processors that are but extremely capable and powerful otherwise like the 990x I'm using at 4.6Ghz. It can run any modern game with very high FPS together with my 1080Ti. However some games have parts where AVX is needed and it's a pain, so much so that Larian has released a patch removing AVX need from Baldur's Gate 3 for example, because it was so sporadically needed for the game it was unfair to require users the NEED of an AVX capable CPU just to load small parts of the game that require it.

Case in point, I run every introduction and tutorial of Cyberpunk 2077 with the above said hardware at high settings, 45~80 FPS all the time, but in each introduction there is a part where it crashes (everytime in the same part) because it sends AVX instructions to my CPU (i7 990x six core 4.6Ghz, otherwise more than capable of running the game) which does not support it.

I see many people with the same problem and most of the people online currently complaining about the game constantly crashing and not knowing why since they meet the minimum requirements (a 990x six core at 4.6Ghz is MUCH faster and superior than the CPUs listed at your minimum requirements) do have this exact problem: their CPU does not support AVX.

Please, let me and the community know when will there be a patch for non AVX CPU compatible players enjoy the game. Thank you very much.

PS: it was never stated anywhere that AVX was NEEDED to run the game and from what I see it's ridiculous to limit the game just because a few instructions here and there, rather I believe the game can run just fine without AVX maybe with a slowdown in some areas just like Baldur's Gate 3 does thanks to Larian's patch for non AVX users."

Exact same here - X5680 CPU (& GTX 780 X2 - 1 used)
Same. Xeon W3690 @4ghz, theoretically meets the minimum spec performance-wise and runs perfectly fine up until i have to sit down. Time to consign a perfectly serviceable (but ancient) PC to the scrapheap perhaps.

Send them a support request stating your processor has no AVX support. They must patch their game as other developers did in similar cases involving AVX need, so it's common practice and not even that hard, they just need to do it.
hi,

my game was consistenly crashing (only chose CORPO each time)

everytime i got past the 'character selection / custom.' the game would crash - terminal crash thingy.

i have an RTX2080 super

i left all game settings alone initially; then went to GOG and did the 'verifiy repair' thingy - all good (i.e. patched to 1.03 and the '29mb' update)

i had already installed latest video drivers - but made sure to reset to default settings, as i did not perform a clean install.

back into the game, select corpo again, character custom. and after that, again, crash to terminal.

then i changed 'video' settings - which on default on my machine went to RTX ULTRA

I selected only ULTRA (i.e. no RTX)

back to start new game, corpo, etc. - now, NO CRASH

strangely enough, after this, I quit the game, change the video settings back to RTX ULTRA

back to new game, select corpo etc. - and now, also NO CRASH

apologies, I can't point people to 'specifics' as to WHY / HOW etc.

But what I listed above is what got me past the initial terminal error crashes that wouldn't let me get past the character selection into game

I know some people might wonder, why didn't you try anything beyond CORPO - because to me it didn't seem that changing character class should fix my error / problem, you know, variables controls and all that nerdy stuff.

anyway, been playing since, no problems

hope any of this helps to anyone having issues

1. Check verify repair the game install
2. Install latest video driver, and set to default / perform clean install
3. Changed the initial default video settings in game from RTX ultra to just ULTRA - no RTX.

basically what i did and after that, voila, working... and to state it again, once I got past the crash point, I took the next available moment to quit the game, restart the game from GOG - change video from ULTRA back to RTX Ultra - and now this also works fine.

apologies, can't give explanations as to why, id just be talking outta my ass
