Hello to everyone, i'd like to share a little of my (for now) 50 hours long experience, i still haven't finished so please don't be asses and don't write spoilers.
That said my only concern about this game is the AI during firefights... how come the enemies sometimes behave all right (not doom level all right, but still better than a generic fallout 3-ish shooter) flanking me or gettin closer with a shotgun, going in cover and throwing granades at me when i stay too much behind cover and overall kicking my ass in a fashion that makes me think "well look at that, they DID work on enemy smarts" while other times... well lining up through a door and slowly walking to me so i can just down them one at a time.
I noticed they "think" better in smaller fights, like me against 4-5 of them, while in bigger events, like in main missions when i have allies they just go fallout 3 level of intelligence and shoot while calmly walking around.
Do you think they will fix that?
From what i gathered you can actually get a better crowd AI just by writing a few lines on an .ini file, so here's hoping they will upgrade enemies as well.
If anyone did, thank you for reading my rant.

P.S. I don't have anything against Fallout 3, i love the game, but the AI is just so dumb there

I am not going to try any wall of texts in favour or against the game, kind of pointless at this point, so the best thing to write here is that maybe during 2021 they update the hell out of this game. I really hope free DLCs filled with cosmetics, guns and cars are not going to be the most active line of news, neither some "surprise expansion" where we basically see some new area, that is in reality the online module.

Cyberpunk 2077 have a good main campaign, plenty of side missions that are cool too, I need to finish the game by the way, but I kind of ditracted by that dumb set of looting and shooting.

Probably there is mods on Nexus to bring something more to the current state of the NPCs, I don´t care much about mods, but these creative people are very good.
If they are going to fix the AI they also need to fix the detection system: otherwise on some areas (like GIM) stealth netrunner builds are going to be screwed (b/c as soon as I dropped somebody they magically detected me and were locking me in combat and if all are going to be smart enough then it is going to be a game over). And it is only in certain areas they would magically detect you as soon as you drop somebody which does not makes sense since the point of such builds is to sneak around.
Do people really believe that CDPR will correct the fundamental mechanics of this game in the next few months, when they failed to get them right during 4+ years of original development?

Your best hope at this point is for CDPR to release a modding-friendly tool a la Bethesda Creation Kit, and let the true heroes at Nexus mods work their magic on NPC AI scripting.

It's more like i hope they do, knowing the past cd projekt quality and how they'll work to regain the public's trust after hpw much they messed up this games launch (especially for consoles)

I have 100> hours in game and I have to admit I do not remember these problems with the AI.

I have to admit that for me I love it, I hope they add way more itemization and complexity to it.

Yes, I am fairly certain they will be able to fix a ton of stuff in the next few months given they put effort into it, best part about deploying your product in software is afterwards you get to concentrate on fixing things instead of adding/changing things.
I think the AI is not bad actually. The only ones that rush you are the melee meatheads like The Animals. The ones with guns and enemy netrunners behave pretty well If they know where you are. They try to flank you, snipe you from cover and use quickhacks on you from distance.

Granted my favorite playstyle is as a stealthy netrunner and once I have enough points and legendary quickhacks I don't give them a chance to show off their AI since I kill them all (or knock them out with System Reset) without them ever seeing me.

But I did do one playthrough as a generalist using guns and the missile arm so they knew where I was and they behaved pretty well with that knowledge actually.

You can certainly outsmart them (I should bloody well hope so, lol) but their AI does not feel much different to me than the AI of any other open world game I've played. If anything, it's better and more "honest." Better than the Fallout games or TES games or the latest Deus EX for sure.

NPC AI in all games is relatively primitive and it's really only when it's a heavily scripted non open world situation, where the developers can cheat with scripts and with knowing exactly where you are through their own AI cheats and designed choke points that it gives the impression of being better - it really isn't though. It's smoke and mirrors and tricks that make it seem that way.

One of the most obvious ways they cheat is by channeling you into one or maybe two possible paths with NPCs strategically set-up to deal with the limited choices you have. This game is much more open and you can start most fights (with the exception of a couple of the main quest fights) from 10 or more different directions. That's a much better test for enemy AI and IMO, they definitely get a passing grade.

I seriously hope they do open the floodgates for modders because Night City itself is very impressive in atmosphere and scope -- it would be a shame for it to go to waste. Need modders to go Yakuza 0 all over this game
