Hello so I live in Japan but I'm from the US. I want to buy CP2077 uncut and don't want a trimmed Japanese version of the game. Also I want to buy it here at GOG. Should I go ahead and purchase it here or VPN to the States and purchase??? I mean I guess I could get it with my Amazon US account but I would rather support CDPR with a purchase here. So any info or help would be great thanks.

I'm in the same boat. I accidentally bought the Japanese versions of Tomb Raider, not realizing how badly the censorship affects the game until it was too late. Random characters had black smears where they should have cuts, and human bodies eaten by animals looked like someone dumped oil on them instead of actually being eaten. It completely destroyed the immersion of the game. I don't want the same thing to happen with CP2077. I want the full experience.
All games here on GOG all identical for all users world-wide.

Games which are problematic in some countries are blocked from buying in that country (you can still get them via gift-code or purchasing when abroad).

Once you own the game, GOG does not enforce any censorship - you always get the same version, regardless of country of origin.

In the rare case where a game is censored on GOG (like Fallout, which is the UK version with missing children) it's also this version for all the world.

So if you buy the game here I'm sure you'll get the same version as everybody else.

Thank you for clarifying this. im in the same boat as the gentlemen above (currently residing in japan as an american). I canceled my steam preorder and bought it with my american debit card on GOG. (rather CDPR get the full cut anyways) also, just to double check. i wont even need to be using a VPN or anything when i want to download the game on release? i own the global uncensored copy regardless of my current location, right?

Exactly. That's how GOG works. There are no regionally different versions, only some regional blocks on buying. Once you own the game (via gift, or buying abroad if it's blocked in your region) you can download the global version from wherever you are.

Some games come with a censored German version (ie. some Wolfenstein games), simply because there is no uncut German version available. But you can always download and install the English version in those cases.
