Although I have been playing for more than 20 hours, I still have regrets for preorder it. Initially when it has been confirmed that it will only support 1st person view, I decided not to buy it although it has been on my radar for a few years since the first trailer. But after many previews and putting my faith on youtubers, the hype came back and trust them that the 1st person view was the right choice. BUT I still have a load of small regrets among others. Yes I am a big fan of the cyberpunk genre, and as a reference I didn't play none of the "Deus Ex" games because of the camera perspective. 3rd person view has never being an issue for my immersion and exploration into the world. We all know CDPR won't make a DLC or patch to fix the camera. There is a 3rd view option for driving, but not for combat/stealth? Hey Snake have you located Sam Fisher? ;) If there was only 1st view while driving, which is terrible by the way, I would already asked for my a refund or burn this game instead of Night City. But it's OK on PC and we have the mod community to make this game better.
I'm curious to know what you have against a 1st person camera view. I do like 3rd person so you can see your character, but I've never actually thought of 1st person view as being detrimental in any way.

Platforming comes to my mind.
I don't mind the first person but how do you do third person driving? That might actually help me not crash as much.

I tend to find 3D platforming in general to be pretty finicky and annoying, TBH. Haven't played enough of them to really notice if one or the other works better though, so you may have a point there.

OP seemed to have something different in mind, however, since they mentioned not playing Deus Ex because of the camera.

It's a lot easier to watch your six. You can also peak around corners without exposing yourself. I sometimes play Battlefront 2 (the remake). When I switch to first person I get stomped pretty hard. Third person is much easier.

Proportions always feel off to me aswell, like am I supposed to be 3 foot? Why does it seem like my head just barely reaches over counters and tables? And stuff like getting pinned to a wall you didn't know was there or you fall backwards off a ledge.

Press Q while driving to change camera view

The reason I don't play FPS because they give me nausea. Stealth games are more engaging while playing from a 3rd person view and easier to observe enemies path. I can see why CDPR have decided to go with 1st person camera, but I strongly wished they gave us the option to choose. Now we have to wait till the mod community come up with a good mod.
Not sure if 3rd person will work in Cyberpunk tho. I mean, if they mod it in. The animations are made for first person, not for third person. They can get away with stuff now as you won't see it, but if they got third person your body might look weird during animations.

Elder Scrolls only since Skyrim made 3rd person workable, before that if you switched to 3rd person it looked off as well. It was just there to admire your outfits on your character but fighting was awkward (no crosshair), turning looked weird and strafing was your character just floating to the left and right. That might happen with a 3rd person mod for Cyberpunk too if they ever make one.

I have no objections against a third or first person camera. I do think it would remove parts of stealth as you can just look over crates and around corners without actually peeking around it and i find that a big weakness in stealth games like Metal Gear, it doesn't feel like you are sneaking about cause you always have a view that your character can't see. But i get it from your point of view with getting motion sickness from first person. If it helps, maybe play in windowed mode so you see a bit of your desktop to the left and right, it has helped me in the past with games that made me sick when playing. Or lower the graphics for a smoother experience, i got very ill from playing Borderlands 1 cause appearantly the framerate was off and that translated to me into "I need to barf".

yeh. came here to gripe and comment on this as well.

the point was forcing users to appreciate and use the dodge and bullet-time stuff in FPS.

theres no slow-mo camera in 3rd person. more of the 'play the game the way we want' from developers, imo
