I have bought all the DLC and downloaded them, giving me 3 pkg files (I have never dealt with these before so don't know if I need to put them somewhere, extract them or whatever).

Those are for Mac. I assume you are not using a Mac and downloaded them by mistake, right?

If I'm correct, and you downloaded them:

1) from the website: look on the top left of the menu where you got the files from, there should be a "System: ..." menu that allows to choose the OS you want the installers for (Windows, Mac, or Linux).

2) from Galaxy's "Backups & goodies": the menu is on the top right of the download links list, but says "OS:" instead of "System"

Yup that's sorted it! Can only assume I somehow hit the system drop down and switched it to Mac the first time around and didn't notice!
