I'm running into an issue with Crysis Warhead where there's a random crackling sound that plays both in-game and in the menus. It's pretty annoying, and it oddly only seems to happen in Warhead -- the original Crysis is fine. Is anyone else encountering this?

It seems to happen with both the 32-bit and 64-bit binaries.

I'm using a Xonar STX sound card, and I'm on Windows 10.

I have the same problem. Crysis works fine, but Crysis Warhead has sound crackling. Im on Win10x64 Anniv. updated to the last patches and have a VIA Vinyl HD integrated sound card with latest drivers.

One thing to point out: I have more than 300 games currently installed, Warhead is the only game which presents such issue.
I think I found a fix, albeit one that's kind of annoying to have to do. I went to Windows sound settings and lowered the bitrate to 44100khz, rather than the 192khz I usually use. Everything was fine after that. Still pretty ghetto I have to fix it by altering Windows settings, though.

Thank you.
This fixed the problem for me. I'd forgotten about this bug at 192khz setting. Couldn't remember how I fixed it last time I played warhead. Setting bitrate to 48000Hz or 96000Hz also fixes weird noise,
