I've played the game long-long time ago, and bought it recently, for my nostalgia kick. Problem is-I don't remember anything about this game(other than how hilariously bad it is), and I, also, don't remember how to gain stat points. I did leveled up, but only gained go and mana increase.

Am I missing something?
I don't think you're missing anything. If I remember right, leveling up only increased HP, mana and damage. For stat increase you need items.

Been a while since I played though.
Seem to correspond with what I'm seeing. Thanks for reassuring.
Old Post but I figured I would let you guys know. Or anybody else that is thinking about purchasing. The ability to empower equipment, and more customization to leveling as well as a New Game + mode was added ot the Playstation 1 version but never added to Windows version.

Kinda sucks, I didn't find out about this till sometime after I bought the game but it was cheap so oh well.

The PS version is different in several ways. I found it best not to compare and enjoy the PC version for what it is. And I quite liked it. given the negative press that it got I found it quite decent.

Have fun.

Absolutely I agree with you, just thought I would throw that out there if because nobody comes out and says you, you actually have to do some digging to find it out. Kinda ridiculous but as you said, It is still fun as is.

Cheers!
