Well, the sound works perfectly during the game proper, but during FMV sequences, it doesn't synch up with the video, sometimes with sound clips playing over each other. Plus, there's often a strange crackling noise as the cutscene goes on. Any ideas how to fix this?

Mess around with the DOSBox settings. Open the .conf file in the Crusader directory and try changing the following options to these:

[mixer]
nosound=false
rate=44100
blocksize=1024
prebuffer=50

Also, try the other video output options with the "Graphics Mode setup" tool.
Tried the different settings and ran the first mission briefing with each video mode. Surface and the two OpenGL modes seem to have some effect, namely that the distortion didn't happen until a bit later (under the default, it picks up a crackling noise and an echo when he first pulls up the schematic, while under the three above mentioned modes, it's not until he says "An informant will me you there"). Sadly, it didn't fix the problem completely.

This worked well for me. Thanks for the solution!
@OP:

Have you tried emulating different sound cards such as Sound Blaster 16 or Gravis Ultrasound?
I tried playing both games on my netbook using the original CDs and Dosbox. No hassle with install, and the first game runs tolerably, but No Regret suffers this audio issue you mention during FMVs.

Installing the same way on my desktop had no troubles, so I assumed it was a CPU speed issue.

This fixed my issue, many thanks - but NO REMORSE.

Trying to do this but everytime I go to save the file changes, it gives me an "Access is Denied" message. Any way past this?

Trying to do all that, different graphic modes, but there is no effect :( Any idea what else might cause this? Thanks ahead!
