Hi,

I know Exodus does not say on the page that its supported in Windows 8. But does anyone have any experience with trying it anyway?

Thanks in advance.

I've installed it just now on Win8 64 bit and at least Creatures 3 is working flawlessly. I tried launching the Docking Station, but it tries to update and then gives an error message:

"Installation stopped. Trouble bzip2 reading from C:\GOG Games\Creatures Exodus\Docking Station\file_list_splash.txt.partial."

This may be because I installed it under C:\GOG Games instead of C:\Program Files (x86) (which was the default location), but any suggestion on how to solve this would be welcome.

EDIT: never mind, the solution for that error is in the thread 'Docking station not launching' (I cannot post links at the moment).

There is a pretty in-depth guide over at Creatures Caves titled Creatures Series on Windows 8 that might be of use to you! 32-bit systems seem to be able to handle Creatures, although note that some 64-bit systems have been known to work, too. I only have Windows 7 and can't speak from personal experience, but a good number of people have reported being able to install and play Creatures on Windows 8. Good luck!
Thanks for the reply! It's not that expensive so I think I'm just going to give it a try this weekend. I'll make sure to tell you guys how it went.
Hi Camoth,

I'm currently running Windows 8 64-bit and do not have any issues with running Docking Station. Just keep in mind that to use Docking Station, you'll have to search Google for the offline patch. Otherwise, it will require you to log-in to the server before playing (which isn't possible at this time). Once you have the offline patch installed, do not attempt to install any updates when Docking Station prompts you to do so.

Enjoy the games!

Hi Danny,

Thank you for the advice. I will do that!
Just wanted to let you guys know I installed and played the game without issues. I havent tried the docking station, but I don't really care for it anyway.

Thanks again!
Hmmm. found out DS will never work on my Windows 8. 64 does not support 16-bit in any way, shape or form... too bad
Hi Camoth,

I'm a bit late to the party but wanted to let you know that I did get the Docking Station to work on Win 8 64 by following the instructions in the topic Docking Station not launching
