Ok, I JUST purchased Creatures: The Albian years, and I have looked all over and so far haven't found anything even resembling an answer to my issue which is as follows:

Is there a way to set the resolution in Creatures 1? I feel like my resolution is actually too high. The game is windowed, which is fine as I get the impression that's how it's supposed to be, but due to my resolution (1920x1080) all the details in the game just seem ridiculously tiny. I can't seem to find any sort of menu for game graphics settings, and I don't really want to have to set my resolution down for everything every time I play.

Thanks in advance for any help, and if I've missed something terribly obvious, I apologize. I just don't want to keep squinting at my screen like I'm 80 because the game was never designed for high resolution! :)

I hope you're enjoying the game, aside from the resolution issue! Unfortunately, there is no way to change the resolution of Creatures 1. I, too, have an enormous screen and make sure that the game's window is somewhat small so that I can focus on a smaller area of the world. Maybe I've never noticed that everything really is small, since I played it long ago and remember what everything looks like.

I'm just wondering if maybe you're seeing things even more differently. For example, are the screenshots seen here about comparable to what you'e seeing on your screen in terms of the size of everything in-game?
Thanks so much for the reply and the information - it's a rare day I can't find something on the web, but this game is a bit hard to find info for.

The screenshots from the website you linked are comparable, so I think the size is just due to never being designed for modern resolutions. I find I'm getting used to it the more I play. It's one of those games I always meant to get around to playing, glad I finally get the chance!

Thanks again! :)
You're very welcome! If you're looking for a very active Creatures community, I highly recommend checking out Creatures Caves. There are a decent number of players still enjoying the Creatures games, and the community seems to be slowly growing after all of these years! Asking a question there usually results in multiple responses within a few hours, and it's quite a friendly place.

I do agree with you about the modern resolution problem, though. It would be so much nicer if things could be zoomed in on larger screens! I'm glad you're getting used to it, even if it's not ideal. I still find that the tiny graphics are really detailed for such an old game. It's one of the games from the 90s that I would say has aged pretty well: Nothing too fancy, but it's certainly not a game that screams "I was made in the 90s!"

Best of luck with everything, and enjoy!
