I am just asking because the menu entry still is there but nothing happens when I click it. Is it supposed to be so?

I will reinstall the game and update you on whether you can see the achievements or not, but I seem to recall being able to open the achievements menu and browsing through them. Maybe I'm just thinking in-game, or something, though...
