Hi!

I hope someone can help me. I tryed all tips from the WWW to play cossacks on my notebook with Windows 8.1.
A few days ago i bought the "patched" cossacks-anthology from gog. Now i have the same problems like from the "normal" cossacks.

Video Folder is renamed, Windows Explorer is off.

dilplay mode 1024x768x8 not found.
Direct Draw Init Fail
DMCR exe is not working


Any ideas? I read many threads that the gog anthology is working on 8.1...

I tried all tricks and patches and nothing is working. Yesterday it worked at one time suddenly -without any patch or tricks. -I started it normally.

I played cossacks for 3 hours!!! after returning to Windows it wouldn´t work any more. No Windows update between this two trials.

Today disillusioning: dmcr doesn´t work ...

Has nobody any idea? I´m not at home at the moment. so i couldn´t try the virtual box with XP. -No CD here

Did you try to enable DirectPlay? It's under:
Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Turn Windows Features on or off -> Checkmark the Legacy Components (DirectPlay)
