This game is STILL driving me nuts.
I blew up the AI's Lumber Yard, and two of his houses....yet the little bastard has not only caught up to me, he's now outpacing me in house building? What's up with THAT, designers?
Next, I bought a parcel of land, and the enemy built a Gadget factory on it. I sent a team of workers to destroy it. First I tried using a Foreman's "Dynamite" command, which failed. Next I tried clicking the "Fist" icon, then clicking in various ways over the building. The mouse turns to a house, and nothing, absolutely nothing, happens.
Next, I try to attack enemy workers in the area. This was a cluster-f*** for sure.
The AI is deadly, and my men fight like the Keystone Kops.
I must have inadvertantly clicked some kind of "run away" button because lots of my men beat it down a subway hole.
Now I'm down to a tiny handful of workers, most are dead.
I try to go into the massively-confusing "gang screen" and it is impossible to assemble a team. Plenty of foremen, plenty of workers...only the manual never bothered to really explain what mouse clicks or key strokes will assemble a team. I select a foreman, highlight some workers, and that's supposed to become a team, right? Wrong. Nothing happens.
Why not design it so you can drag the mouse over a group of workers/foremen, and they become a team by default? Huh, designers? You haven't given us the fifteen seconds we'd need to go into a menu to assemble a team. The game is a frantic button-masher, and that just plain sucks in a building sim.

The "dynamite" command of the foreman only works for your own houses OR for enemy houses ready to be taken over.

To take over a house, select a working party and use the button with the (I think it was that one) fence with the little explosion. The party will start beating away the fence piece by piece, and when they're done, the house basically belongs to you (or you may blow it up).

Workers make lousy fighters; never fight unless your clearly in the majority. If you already have access to gangsters, take those instead; they're not only deadly against enemy workers, but may also effectively damage houses. Certain undesirables may also damage/demolish houses, but I don't remeber which ones specifically.

Workers (and all other folks as well) will automatically try to run away to your HQ when they are low on health. They can't be stopped unless they're stunned by further combat action against them (which will probably kill them if it's a gangster beating / shooting on them or if they lie stunned on a property about to explode).

I'm not sure about the worker/foreman-selection screen, but highlighting workers for a certain foreman should do it. Maybe your workers were spread out somewhere or unconcious or somethin.

Previous poster answered most of the questions, but I'll add:
To join the workers to a foreman, you need to select them and press the "handshake" button (it looks like two workers going for a handshake).
