Has anyone been successful in this campaign. i keep getting raided almost every turn

When are you declaring Federation? Declaring federation will instantly turn all tribes hostile to you. Or are you being raided by the Europeans?

Natives are the hardest to play, so I wouldn't try until you have mastered the Europeans.
In saying that, I find them the most fun. Build to level 2 as soon as you can, and start building units. I only bother building cavalry units. Build 2-3 good colonies, and then build an attacking leader (good attacks and unit count) and several mule leaders (high unit count and movement). Then head out and start federating with your attack leader, and replenishing your units with the mule leaders. Use the points to boost your attack leader and you will soon have a leader with 20-30 units and 9-10 attacks. Nothing can stop you then.
