As the title says, when launching the game it minimizes instantly and will not go full screen. Anyone else have this problem or know how to solve it?

Most likely, in the settings of your video card that something is wrong.

Also in the file Conquest.ini have such a line:
GDI = off ; on = GDI compatible with full screen 3D
(the third row from the top)

Try replacing the off to on:
GDI = on
