All the pour souls that were crying themselves to sleep because they beat Commandos: BEL for the tenth time, finally got a chance for sometnig new. With Commandos 2, Pyro found all the bad choices they made in Commandos: BEL, and fixed them with no second thought.
The basic idea is still the same, but with a few concept changes. First, and most important, your comrades can be resurrected using a first aid kit, which eases the game way too much, because dying is no longer an issue. As you can assume, that makes the sequel twenty times easier then the first game. That is the only thing I can really hold against this game.
That being said, there are some more crew members (a small, fast-as-a-bullet guy, and his pit bull), and also, the crew members' restrictions have been minimized. Everyone can throw a grenade now, use any type of weapon, swim or dive ('cept the diver is the only one with a scuba gear)...
As for the technicalities, kudos to the spanish guys. Every possible aspect has been largely improved. The map can be rotated, player characters can stand guard(stand, crouch or crawl),
I accidentally pressed the "Post" button, so I have to finish the review this way.
As I was saying, Commandos 2 is much more "controlable" than it's predecessor, but much less "hardcore". The graphics are stunning, and the music really adds to the epic feel that is woven into the fabric of this game.
Conclusion: They made the game much more comfortable, but the sad thing is, with it's difficulty level, it doesn't need to be this comfortable.
I won't waste any words on the "three-quel", because I find it to be a crime against the first game in the instalment, and a follower to the global "gain new customers instead of satisfying old ones" trend.
I love Commandos 2 but I still consider previous games superior to the sequel.
Commandos 2 is way to easy.
