Hi, I just bought this game and wanted to try it out. I immedietly ran into an issue that I can't save the game.. I can use CTRL+S to save it but then CTRL+L doesn't do anything. I tried saving it via Save Game in the menu but when i go to Load Game menu all the slots are empty.
I am running this on Dell laptop with Win 7. I have the game installed on drive D:\ (OS is installed on C:\ ) and i think this might be the problem. I will try reinstalling it to C:\.
Anyone else had this problem?

Hi,
I don't have the game, but apparently this is a known issue with the game.
There's a proposed fix here regarding quicksaves
If Namurs sugestion doesn't solve the problem you could try this fix from file planet.
http://www.fileplanet.com/hosteddl.aspx?strategyplanet/commandos/saveloadfix.zip
It changes or adds something to the commandos registry setting to get the game to save and load properly.
Thanks guys for the quicky replies. I haven't had time to try them out. I will get to it as soon as I can and then report.
You must set Compatibility Mode(right click on commandos.exe->Properties->Compatibility) to Windows 98/Me(i didn't test others).
i noticed that the preferences (resolution, etc) wasn't saved in Win7, which i could fix by running the game with Adminastrator rights. my guess is, that the game is not allowed to write in into the directory it is installed to (newer games use the registry or put stuff somewhere in your personal folders) unless you run it as administrator.

I use Russian version of Windows XP and ran into problem with saving games: game doesn't save and I cannot load my save later.

I've realized that game actually does save into Documents and Settings\<User name>\My documents\Pyro studios\..., but doesn't load from it.
In Russian version of Windows XP I have Russian letters in User name, also "My documents" is called in Russian ("Мои документы"), so that's the problem. Specifying another path for "My documents", with no Russian letters in it, solved the problem.
