Hello fellow Forum Warriors.

I bought the Commandos Ammo Pack earlier today as it was my daily surprise. But much to my dismay it will not load (Original or Expansion)

I get the "Commandos" Logo, then the screen goes black, sound still plays but visual never returns...

Does anyone have a fix for this?

Did you try to play a bit with compatibility settings? Try Win95/98 first. It worked well for me

I am also having problems with this series too, and can't find a way to fix them as yet. I tried to raise my own question about this but don't understand what a DXDiag is, let alone how to get one. Here's my problem:

I just bought the Commandos games and have tried to launch 'Behind Enemy Lines' and 'Beyond The Call Of Duty' but both games go to a black screen with no sound once you allow them to proceed through the UAC box. I can't end the program or even make the screen do anything at all with Control, Alt, Delete - nothing works but turning the whole PC off and starting again. I tried the solutions offered here http://www.gog.com/forum/commandos_series/behind_enemy_lines_doesnt_start but they either didn't help, weren't applicable or just flummoxed me completely (I am not an advanced computer user by any means and the solution offered here http://modelrail.otenko.com/electronics/commandos-behind-enemy-lines-resolution-fix made as much sense to me as Faust Part 2 in the original German (I don't speak German)).
Can anyone help??

I'm having a similar problem, except I can hear sound from the videos. The fixes don't seem to make any difference. I have a feeling that it has something to do with installing VLC or Zoom Player because I got Commandos working straight after I did a fresh install of Windows 7.

Same here! I bought commandos on GOG because I hear it doesn't have problems. However, I can't even play it! I get the same black screen with sounds after I see the logo at the beginning. (Somebody talked about VLC causing this. I have VLC, so that might be the cause. Can someone test this out?)

Sorry for the late reply. I managed to find the solution here.

The steps are these:

1. Start -> All Programs -> K-Lite Codec Pack -> Configuration -> FFDShow video decoder.

2. Scroll down to the row that says Cinepak libavcodec Cinepak(CVID)

3. Change libavcodec to disabled.

Works for the me. The problem now is that a few missions in, I realised that the game just isn't for me!
