My friend and I are trying to play multiplayer Commandos 2 but can not get it to work at all.
We both have all ports forwards. 2300-2400 and 47624.
We have also added comm2.exe and dplaysrv.exe (Microsoft DirectPlay Server) to the Windows Firewall Exception list.
When I host a TCP/IP game he can see my game on the list of games after typing in my IP but when he tries to connect he gets a black screen and an error that says "Error in Connection".
We have tried Hamachi too but the game I host does not show up on the list even after clicking the refresh button.
We have also tried giving Windows XP compatibility and Administrator access to comm2.exe. No luck.
We have tried Game Ranger. Same result- black screen with "Error in Connection" message.
I have pretty much tried everything I can think and have verified that the ports are indeed open on both his and my machine by using (http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/).
Am I missing something here? Has anyone successfully played this game over the Internet or Hamachi?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have solved this issue and am able to play multiplayer now. Anyone having problems with their multiplayer should read below:
There seems to be a problem with Windows 7 and old DirectX DirectPlay. Commandos 2 and games that came out around 2000/2001 use DirectX 7 or 8 which may have some issues on Windows 7.
The problem occurs when you have a router with uPnP enabled (Universal Plug and Play). The combination of Win7 + DirectPlay + uPnP causes connection issues.
The solution is to disable uPnP on your router. You will be able to connect via TCP/IP or even LAN/Hamachi.
You will still need to have all the correct ports forwarded and firewall exceptions.
If you want to use uPnP later, just remember to re-enable it once you are done playing.
