also does it work on modern systems properly? On mine it runs super, super fast.

Well on my LG R700 laptop, it works like a charm and I sometimes feel like kicking the Marine in the ass so he swims faster... ;)
But most of the games here on GoG are optimized to work well with modern computers.
Mind you I play on Vista 32bits edition.
