Hello,

I've made a quick "mod" that tweaks the config and updates DOSBox to version 0.76.0 of the "staging" fork. Here are some of the improvements:

- A whole new menu system styled after the Keen 4/5/6 status screen
- Keen Dreams Shareware v1.20
- FormGen's Keen 6 Demo
- Cloud save support for both Keen Dreams and 6
- DOSBox Staging 0.76.0 32-bit (64-bit builds had a regression)
- Sharp bilinear scaling for a proper aspect ratio without uneven pixel ratio artifacts
- 10,000-cycle limit to reduce stuttering

To install, simply extract the .zip file into wherever you installed the game, overwriting files when prompted.

Disable auto updates in Galaxy.

Do not use the "Graphic Mode Setup" program from GOG. It will overwrite this config.

Download it from my Github here

Enjoy!

Just to note you can easily plug in a copy of Keen 6 if you still own the original disks like I do

Yep! If you have a copy of Keen 6, you can replace the demo in this pack and have the whole series filled out.

on less-than-legal sites, yes. legally? no unless you own a nintendo switch as a version of keen dreams was released for that or grab a retail copy off of ebay.

The shareware Keen Dreams is identical to the retail version, other than a quick nag screen. It's not worth buying any of the modern re-releases to get a legitimate copy.

As for Keen 6, that's much tougher. I bought the book/CDs portion of the id Anthology from eBay a while back and that comes with the CGA version, but there are patches out there to convert it to EGA. It's kind of expensive for just Keen 6, but it's a neat piece of id history.

Thank you.

I'm on Linux, and I wasn't even going to mess around with installing this yet, but since you've done the dirty work to get the whole series running, I'm going to give it a shot. :D

Like everyone else, I DO wish I could get a copy of six. I never owned a Switch or whatever, and I don't think I've ever played it.

None the less, thank you for doing what you could for us. Much appreciated. :)

Well.. First thing was that your copy of dosbox.exe needed to be named DOSBox.exe because on Linux that sort of thing DOES matter. I couldn't seem to get it to work after that, though.

I don't THINK there are any other files misnamed like that.. I assume that there's some sort of middle step that I'm missing. I'm trying to paste your version straight in to the GOG install. Do I need to upgrade to some other staging fork first? or..?

is it save to update the dosbox staging version to the most current one or would it break something?
