Hello. On gog, in the game details, it says the game works on windows 7 to 11. But in the requirements it says only win 10. So what OS will it work on please. Thanks for any help.
I'll mention to the team to fix that. It does NOT run on Windows 7. I'd worry about if it will run on Windows 8 or 9 (although I believe it does). And, for sure, on Windows 10 and 11.
Problems when the game starts. Hi, I'm not able to launch it...it freezes while showing the languages menu...I'm on W11...Does anyone else have the same issue? Thanks

Let me ask the developers. That doesn't sound right. I'll check back, shortly ...

Thanks! Yesterday I submitted a ticket to GOG crew but they simply sent me a list of common (I mean not specific advice) workaround but they didn't work....

One of the developers is looking into it. He's likely to post here to follow up with you. Stay tuned!

Hello,

I'm a senior developer for Cygnus Entertainment - just tried the latest GOG pc build (2.0.23944) and was not able to reproduce.

If you email me at dan@cygnusentertainment.com I'd like collect some more information and help you out.

Dan

There is no Windows 9. The first predecessor version of the current Windows is NT 3.1 (not 1.0), named for marketing reasons to prevent stupid suits from thinking the new, better Windows to be inferior to the DOS-based Windows 3.1 which it looks alike. Windows 10 was again „renumbered“ for marketing reasons. Its last predecessor was Windows 8.1 = Windows Server 2012 R2 = Windows NT 6.3. The current Kernel is basically the same for Windows 10, 11, Server 2016, 2019 and 2022, but differs from the 6 series (Vista = 6.0 , 7 = 6.1, 8 = 6.2, 8.1 = 6.3, and the server versions thereof).

Noted!
It's somewhat missing the point, thst GOG has only Mac and Windows versions, isn't it?

The original has been so successful because of the availability of the source code and for running on almost any computer platform.

The original was made by a father for his daughters, with no other purpose. Don Woods had to hunt down Crowther and request the code and asked permission to build it out. Since then, it's just grown and spread for a massive host of reasons from education to training to creative pursuits and open source world building. This version is a love letter to adventure, served up in a bottle. It's also available for VR through GOG. I hope that helps provide some context. Thank you for commenting!

I knew about the history, thanks anyway; I just think the availability on many platforms later on until zhe present day has been the most important factor for its success, and also the reason it hasn't been "almost fforgotten" like most other text adventure games. At least my own experience is that I, for exmple, actually got to play this particular game due to its free availability on most Linux distributions while, on the other hand, having read many Wikipedia articles about games and whole genres mentioning old games being "among the first of that kind" that I'll probably never get to play myself. In this sense, GOG is breaking up with the tradition.
