As much as I love and respect Ken and Roberta Williams for the innovations in PC gaming in the past, I cannot recommend this game. Even on the TV excerpt playing in the house you enter, she admits things that not all people will like about games. First problem: the map does not show where you are, which can prevent you from getting lost and constantly backtracking, or fall without seeing in front of you. I died from a fall while in the first area where the wand is. At that point, the game is not good for me. I uninstalled it. This will frustrate me and piss me off to keep playing.
Hi ErnieCo. Sorry this game isn't for you!

At its core, it's a near 50 year old game and is a product of its time. It is a challenge to compare to the modern gaming experience. Tech in the 70's was nowhere near as robust, making games a very different kind of challenge. However, in terms of respecting the original and the origin of adventure games, it does a fantastic job. Seen through historical context, it's a truly beautiful and engaging experience!

As to the map, there are maps for each region, which draw themselves in as you delve deeper into each area. When you open any map, it opens the map of your current region. And, if you're genuinely lost, you can always drop an item showcasing your exact location on the map. Ultimately, the game presents challenges. It doesn't spoon feed. (In fact, some of the rougher edges, you'll eventually learn are actually plot devices and part of the mystery).

To my mind, walking off a cliff to your death is no reason to stop playing a game. Rather, I'd just suggest not walking off cliffs. Lesson learned. You'll get further into the game.

I'd encourage you to give it another shot. If you only made it to the bird, you've only seen a tiny portion of the game and appear to have abandoned it, rather than accepting the challenge. Ultimately, it's impossible to please everyone, but there is a fantastic game, filled with surprises and delights. Perhaps do a bit of research to learn what this game is, and why it is, then take the plunge?

In any event, thank you for the feedback. Noted!
