Played Colossal Cave with a group of Operators on an IBM mainframe circa 1975. After months and covering the walls of the machine room with maps we never did complete it. So would be nice to have another bash! But would like to take a peek at it before committing to purchase, however the demo is Windows only.

Hi Creosote999. Unfortunately, that's unlikely to happen. That said, you can go to the Apple app store and grab the app for an iPhone or iPad. The interaction is different and the resolution will be a bit lower, but I believe you get the first few levels for free. It should give a fairly strong indication of the gameplay.

Alternately, there are a variety of play throughs on YouTube. The more recent ones show the current, Enchanted version.
