Has anybody gotten the map editor to work?
Works just fine. Having 'output=surface' can cause fullscreen issues, and I've yet to figure out why GOG seems to prefer that display method. I typically change it to 'opengl' since I have yet to encounter any problems with that one.

Check your dosboxCOL_addon config file in your Colonize folder via notepad.
What does "output=surface" mean?

SpookyNooky: What does "output=surface" mean?
It tells DoSBox how to send information to the screen. opengl uses OpenGL, ddraw used Direct Draw, etc. I'm not 100% sure what 'surface' does but it's rather slow so it probably ignores hardware acceleration.
Ah, okay. I just changed the 'surface' to 'opengl', but could not see any improvement (seems a bit slower though).
I tried loading the mapeditor directly from dosbox, but it says unable to load... I would really like someone to post step by step instructions on how to get the map editor to work.. I'm not totally familiar with dosbox. so explain each step in as much detail as possible.. I just want to make a Pangea world, so I can have a ton of fountain of youths and a ton of places that give out huge payments, and make all indians live on a seperate island, so I can not have to deal with raids.
EDIT: Okay I just answered my question that I had post here.

To run the Map Editor:

#1 Go to the game directory (Default is: C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Colonization)

#2 Make a copy or rename 'dosboxCOL.conf' For me, I first made a copy with ctrl+drag so I had 'dosboxCOL -copy.conf' (this way I will always have a backup), then renamed 'dosboxCOL.conf' to 'ZZdosboxCOL.conf'

#3 Make a copy or rename 'dosboxCOL_addon.conf' For me, I first made a copy with ctrl+drag so I had 'dosboxCOL_addon -copy.conf' (this way I will always have a backup), then renamed 'dosboxCOL_addon.conf' to 'dosboxCOL.conf'

#4 I then ran the Colonization game as if I was playing the game and Received the Map Editor in it's place.

To Reverse the procedure so you can play the game:

#1 Rename 'dosboxCOL.conf' to 'dosboxCOL_addon.conf'

#2 Rename 'ZZdosboxCOL_addon.conf' to 'dosboxCOL.conf'

See attached image for MapEditor's Instructions which can be found under Help

Doesn't look like that is possible
How do I place resources and natives (As well as determine numbers of native settlements) ?
