Anyone else not get on with this game if using a keyboard? The concept of the 'quick steering' key was awful - basically, the car is uncontrollable without it as it just won't react quick enough for corners.
The devs really should have made it a 'precise steering' key so the rest of us could ignore it and not have to steer with an additional keypress!
I play with a PS2 DualShock hooked up with a USB converter. The only way to play if you ask me (well, other than a really nice steering wheel/pedal setup).
Sim racers are terrible with keyboards.
Used to use the usb to ps2 converter till I changed to vista 64 and it's not supported, does not work at all, no drivers. There is one company I found that does 32 bit drivers for vista etc, but they refuse to produce 64 bit ones for some reason.

actually i got throught it on a keyboard, was extremely painful especially in tests and later parts of the game but its doable :)
but truth is that if you want to play and enjoy racers like collin - buy a wheel+pedal
I've always played the game using a Analog Gamepad and would constantly beat my brother who had a steering wheel and pedal.
Just thought I would let people know.
I have played Colin 04 with keyboard and it wasn't that bad. Although it's a bit smoother when you play with a gamepad of course.
But in general, I play most racing games with keyboard, I don't know, I just kind of like the feeling of it I guess.
Analogue game pads based on the PS and Xbox controllers are very cheap these days, they plug into the USB port and after a quick install of the drivers you are pretty much ready to go.
It's worth buying one to get the most out of driving games as playing with the keyboard is like trying to play an RTS with a gamepad instead of a mouse (doable but nowhere near as good).
I play with keyboard, and have no problems (consider that I play also GTR with keyboard), but with a steering wheel, even without force feedback is simply another world (I've played in both ways).
If any of you are considering a wheel instead of a gamepad/keyboard; Id strongly recommend Logitech MOMO, you get the needed quality and longlivety to a fair price.
Just don't buy cheap wheeles, you might aswell throw money out the window.
Will an Xbox 360 controller work with the game? I know those controllers plug right into the computer.
Yes, the x-box 360 wireless controller definately works with this title. This is the device I use for the game and so far I haven't had any difficulties what-so-ever.
The Logitech lowest end gamepad, the clear blue plastic one, has no analog nor vibration, but works marvelously for CMR05. It was like 10 bucks at bestbuy.
Has anyone had success getting vibration feedback working with the XBox 360 PC controller?
Thank you. :)
i have tried it yesterday with KB, but i wasn't able to finish even first race on easy, i have to find my saitek 440.
