I just bought this game but I won't be able to download it till my internet connection is fixed next week.
I'm worried about the "being removed from catalogue" message that goes with this special's announcement. Once it's removed will I ever be able to download this game again?
Thanks for the help

AmishFury: codename gordon was removed.... even if you still had it installed when it was removed it won't show up on your games list (the files are still there)
though to be fair it was a free game (and not all that good)

DelusionsBeta: Incorrect, I downloaded it and played it last month.

http://store.steampowered.com/search/?term=codename+gordon
no results... funny how that is
my steam games list goes from chains to commander keen with no codename gordon in between yet the data is still there in my steamapps folder (and i can run the game)
unless they only pulled it for the US which makes no sense at all
but back on topic it i am also hoping they resolve the issue and don't have to pull the downloads for people who bought the game...

Man, that sucks. Big time. What about the goodies?
And I seriously hope they'll at least leave the entry in the rack/owned games list.
I'm a bit peeved. I can survive wasting a few dollars here and there, but that doesn't mean I'm happy about it. At all. Bad PR move for gog, regardless of whose fault it ends up being.
This sucks. I purchased the game hoping to keep it indefinitely in my games catalogue. I have not downloaded it yet. Can I get a refund?

You'll never get a refund from digital distribution. Can you prove you've not downloaded it anywhere?
They tell us in their About Us page that downloads are always there for customers to download wherever and whenever they want, as many times as they want, and then they allow this to happen. Basically it is not what they advertised and I'm sure there are laws about that.

All they have to do is see if I've clicked on the link. I'm sure they have a way of telling that. I repeat, i have not downloaded the game yet.
I recieved an email from gog.com that the game will be removed from my account on October 29 or something like that and that if i want to keep the game, I need to make a backup in order to keep it. Despite that 2 out 3 times I download a game from here that verfication of file integrity tool they use detects my copy is worthless, what's to say that when I download it or transfer it from wirelessly to my pc with a cd-burner that it won't get messed up in the process.
Until this is resolved in my favor, I don't forsee buying any more games from GOG.com because they can't keep their word about the wherever and whenever download a game feature that I found lured me here in the first place.
I wish they would have told me before I deleted the Installer. :(
Kind of sucks though. I liked having it on my virtual game shelf.
Also, this is almost like the incident with Amazon removing a couple books from the Kindle. At least with Gog, we get a chance to save the installer, Kindle's use DRM so the books just vanished.
"If you buy a game from GOG you will always have access to the file to download your game."
But that's not what the GOG announcement we got in our emails said. They said it would not be available for download after October. Where is your source fatihful?
In their email to me and I can only assume others, they wrote:
"Dear GOG.com Customer,
Thank you for purchasing TOCA Race Driver 3 and/or Colin McRae Rally 2005 from GOG.com.
As we announced on GOG.com, TOCA Race Driver 3 and Colin McRae Rally 2005 had to be removed from our games catalogue as per our licensing agreement with Codemasters. Due to some expiring licenses within the games, Codemasters is obliged to withdraw copies of TOCA Race Driver 3 and Colin McRae Rally 2005 from all sales outlets within a certain time period, which includes GOG.com and its servers.
This means that the games won't be available to re-download from your GOG.com account as of August 29th 2009 (TOCA Race Driver 3) and October 29th 2009 (Colin McRae Rally 2005). We know it would be ideal for these games to be available for re-download forever and we're working on this, however we kindly ask you to download the games and back them up on CDs, DVDs or flash drives.
Sorry for any inconvenience this causes.
GOG.com Team"
So, this problem is not solved.

Faithful's post is dated 21st of July, which means that it was before any of this came to light and is simply stating what we all thought at the time.
