Hi

I have been trying to install some of the great mods available for CC3, but so far without luck.
The plugin manager is in the game folder and following the normal procedure does not work. The manager cannot find some specific original file and it is not possible to install. Same actually happens if I try to install CC4 mods.

Anybody here who has actually had luck installing mods for the GOG versions of Close Combat?

It's a shame that all those great mods are not being played right now!

Anybody?

Hi !
I was having an issue with installing mods in CCIV too, and found the solution.
Just to be sure... (I know it'll sound dumb, but you never know :P)
Are you putting all the files from "Config51.zip" directly into the game installation folder ? (not into a subfolder, directly into "C:\GOG Games\Close Combat 3")
Are you correctly putting the mod files (*.pln) into the "Plugins" folder ?
Maybe launch it in administrator mode ?

I tried to install Der Ost Front mod, and it worked perfectly for what I saw. Here are the steps I made.
Unzipped Config51.zip files into "C:\GOG Games\Close Combat 3".
Launched one time "Config51.exe" (I think it created a folder but not sure).
Made a backup of CC3.exe.
Put DOF_v2_MAIN.pln & DOF_v2_RP.pln into "Plugins" folder.
Activated the mods through "Config51.exe".
Had to replace CC3.exe by GOG's one I saved previously (or else it was asking for the CD).
Launched the game.

Hope this will help you !

Edit: Unfortunately, when I try to uninstall the mod, it asks me for the... original CD ! (either with GOG's .exe or with mod's .exe) I have to uninstall the game if I want to deactivate the mods :/ But it's maybe a particular case related to this specific mod ?

It may be too late to help you, but in case anyone is wondering, here's a fix. The problem is that the filenames that contain umlauts are stripped from the GOG version. This means that the plugin installer can't find the files, because it is looking for ones with the umlauts. Umlauts are the dots above vowels used in some German words. You'll need to manually rename these files with the proper, umlauted form. Meaning, with dots.

1) Make sure you've created a videos directory, as the plugin installer will fail if it does not detect it.
2) Note the filename of any 'missing' file, as called out in the error created by the plugin, when trying to install.
3) Perform a Google search to find the appropriate method for entering these characters on your OS.
4) Make the appropriate filename substitutions.

For example, when I installed Bloody Omaha on CC5, I needed to go into one of the directories and rename a file from "KG Muller" to "KG Müller". To do so, I held alt while typing 0252 on the num pad, as described in the article.
