I have returned from the standing stones site after learning the Shield spell. The journal entry states that I am to meet the groundskeeper but he is nowhere to be found. I have tried barging into the manor but the entry door doesn't yield also tried exiting the estate through the front gate but nothing happens. Don't know if this is a glitch.

The groundskeeper should show up when you get close to the front gate and he will open it for you.

There is a bug that sometimes he does not show. I don't recall if there was a working solution other than loading an earlier save.

I tried reloading an earlier save .. i had one from the standing stones site, the issue hasnt rectified still. damn these old games are too addictive.

Press tab, type flight and fly over the gate.

i have bound ectoplasm to Tab.. can you pls tell me the exact function of the key so that i can rebind. thanks

You have to change Tab= or any other key in user.ini to Type. Ex: Tab=Type
