I made this way back in 2009, hope someone finds it of use. I haven't played the game since.
Hello. Seeing as how there are no detailed FAQs on this matter whatsoever on the Internet (at least none I could find), I've decided to make my own.
Hopefully, some people will find this helpful. I've tried to make it as spoiler-free as possible. It lists the locations of 33 amplifiers, 8 arcane whorls and 10 mana wells (I'm close to finishing the game and I doubt there'll be more power-ups, but just in case, if you see one that isn't listed here, please post).
Amplifiers:
1. When you find the first Joseph's note there is a bookcase. Push it and it will reveal a terrace just above the plants. Just before meeting Jeremiah for the second time.
2. East Wing Lower - On a desk where you first encounter a new breed of monster.
3. Chapel - On the cross, shoot it.
4. North Wing Lower - Before going into the garden, check the flooded cellar, it's on the floor - follow the humming, without Scrye!
5. Can't miss it - Aaron is guarding it, set an ether trap in front of him.
6. Mausoleum Entrance - Can't miss this one.
7. Monastery Interior - As soon as you enter the level go forward and then right. It's by a corpse in a secluded courtyard.
8. Before the room where you see the howler kill a monk (with Scrye), go to the left (in the basement). Climb 2 levels and look down the fireplace.
9. Catacombs Entrance - climb the ladder, or the plank above where you see 2 howlers feasting on a corpse, activate Scrye, you will see bloody footsteps - activate a lever above the corpse's head. It should open a door in front of you.
10. Monastery Past Living Quarters - basement, on the altar.
11. Monastery Past Interior - After you get the Gold Abbot key, a monk will burst trough the window, and there will be 2 crossbow archers on the tower. Kill them, climb on the monk, and trough the window. Follow the ledges, and when you come to the left side of the monastery (facing back to the monastery) you will notice the amplifier.
12. Catacombs Lower Level - After using the Abbot's gold key, and going down the tight passageway going down you will emerge in a room where multiple pillars fell, in that room is a parallel passageway, go all the way until you find the rocks and can hear the amplifier "buzz". Push the candle and it will open a door behind you with supplies and the amplifier.
13. Catacombs - Well room - you will arrive in a room, to the right are locked doors, to the left you talk to Lizbeth. Don't drop down. Instead backtrack and go left, down the passageway (rocks will fall and collapse the way back). Continue trough these tunnels, and when you climb one level up, you can open a door. Inside are strange symbols, climb on the well, and shoot (war cannon works nicely here) the corresponding symbols until you climb up. Amplifier AND a mana well!
14. Catacombs Cisterns - once you drop down the well, climb up the ladders and go left, down this tight passageway is an amplifier.
15. Catacombs Tunnels - proceed until the bars close behind you (beginning of the level), climb down the stairs and you will see another set of bars, that will open once the howler closes on you, quickly, go trough, kill the howler, and go right (use Scrye).
16 & 17. Lair of Lizbeth - in a chest while fighting the undead and Lizbeth - note: I'm not sure if this is a bug, but you get 2 amplifiers from one chest.
18. Manor Gardens - After you get the kitchen key, don't go to kitchen just yet, instead proceed towards the small gate, down the stairs and into the left garden, there will be a well here. dive down and get the amplifier.
19. Manor North wing lower (kitchen) in the dining room with the fireplace, on the table.
20. Manor Tower Run - there will be many Trsanti here - kill them, you should hear the amplifier hum at the beginning of the level - it's on the lower grounds.
21. Same as #3. There's also a note behind the stand.
22. Pirate's Cove Pier - Shortly after picking up Mana Well #5, you will come to a "room" supported by many pillars. There will be a star on one of the walls and you can use Scrye to look at it. Push it and it should reveal a hidden "room" with 2 Trsanti, 2 health packs and a chest containing the Amplifier.
23. Pirate's Cove Caverns - Shortly after starting the level and killing 2 Trsanti, there'll be a cavern in front of you (follow the lights). It's before the lift and before the dynamite being thrown at you. Activate the shield (unsure which level you need to have to, oh well, *spoilers!*). Proceed into the room with Trsanti and the chest. Open it and voila, an Amplifier!
24. Pirate's Cove Barracks - After the tunnel where they throw *spoilers* - it's right at the beginning. Shoot the TNT crates, where you pull the lever, but the door is being blocked by a pipe.
25. Manor - Widow's Watch - Once you get the new power *hint: rod*, jump into the courtyard that's on the left side while facing the exit door. Health Pack and Amplifier are here.
26. Manor - Great Hall - Right after charging the door and going trough it from Widow's Watch there will be a door on the left. Pick up the Headmaster's note and you will notice an Amplifier sitting on a door that has lies sideways. Use crates in conjuncture with Haste (level 1 will do) and jump on the side of the door picking up the Amplifier.
27. Manor - Tower Run - After you enter the tower trough the dragon window, the amplifier is on the bottom.
28. Oneiros - Amphitheater - As soon as you enter the level you will see a health vial on the right. Proceed forward into the courtyard and on the left side should be an entrance, walk along to the right and you will find Otto's note as well as the amplifier.
29. Oneiros - Ruins - After going trough the green "portal" go to the right without dropping into the little area with the rectangle hole. You will see the amplifier as well as the tiny color vortex.
30. Oneiros - Abandoned Fortress - After you drop into the area with no visible way back up, go left, you should be attacked by a flying Eel. You should see an Amplifier just floating. Activate Haste and take a leap of faith towards it.
31. Oneiros - Oracle - After picking up the Human Heart you will arrive in a room with a single poison-spitting monster. Kill it and walk trough the blood waterfall (bloodfall?).
32. Bethany's Cottage - After retrieving the items in the cottage, climb to the second floor (you should've heard the familiar Amplifier hum by now). It's in the room, but the door is locked. Go to the side and jump trough the window.
33. Eternal Autumn Forrest - As soon as you enter Eternal Autumn for the first time, look to the left and you'll notice the amplifier on top of the waterfall. Proceed until you find a hollow tree that you must cross, but before crossing it, drop into the stream and when you get to the "drop", fly towards the amplifier, but stop mid-flight to replenish the meter.
Arcane Whorl:
1. Cemetery - on top of a cross, must jump on other tombstones to reach it.
2. Monastery Past Interior - You will climb up the stairs and 2 monks will attack you (this room is filled with stands with books which the monks transcribe). Proceed trough and there will be a left and right passage, go right and pick up the Arcane Whorl (can't miss it).
3. Catacombs Cisterns - Once you're finished with the simple puzzle of pulling a couple of levers, and seeing the reservoir below the bridge fill, the 2nd room reservoir will drain, jump in and the entrance here is open - pick up the arcane whorl and the journal note.
4. Oneiros - Oracle - After placing the Human Heart at the altar and dropping down, the Arcane Whorl is right inside this little area.
5. Oneiros - Howling Well - It's impossible to miss. After flying from platform to platform you will enter a temple like area. Arcane Whorl is inside the purple haze. Activate the shield and keep activating it to avoid getting hurt, meanwhile picking up the Whorl (not sure what level of Shield you need, but you should've upgraded it to level 5 by now anyhow).
6. Manor - Inner Courtyard - As soon as you enter this level there'll be a gargoyle on the far right. Drop it down and it will break the cellar door, walk in go left and the arcane whorl is right there.
7. Eternal Autumn - Chieftain - Above the exit, there are 2 plant enemies, once you kill them, climb on top the exit.
8. Eternal Autumn - Lower Dwellings - After you climb the second sets of stairs, to the right is a broken wall, go in and you'll find the whorl inside of a cup.
Mana Well:
1. Monastery Exterior - on top of a tower, climb the stairs, then the support, then the stones, then the ladder.
2. Monastery Past Living Quarters - when you see the second statue from which the water is coming from, climb upstairs, and you will see a single book. Climb up the bookshelf and tip it over, then backtrack and pull the lever, go back to the statue and it will reveal a hidden passage at the end of the "stream". Silver Bullets, Phosphorous shells, Health Pack and Mana well await you!
3. Along with the #13 Amplifier.
4. Manor Gardens - In the greenhouse, beneath the statue's feet, before Bethany's note.
5. Pirate's Cove Pier - in the room right after climbing the round staircase and killing the female pirate.
6. Pirate's Cove Barracks - after dropping in the water (or going up the stairs and climbing another set of stairs by a lone TNT crate) you will emerge in a room. In one of the rooms is a trap (arrowheads shooting out of the walls continuously). Activate the lever, bypass the trap and the Mana Well is yours.
7. Oneiros - Keisinger's Stronghold - After finishing the Sextant puzzle in the Keisinger's Studio, you will be teleported to the Stronghold again. There's a beast in one of the rooms (dispel the barriers).
8. Oneiros - Can't miss this one - You'll get it right after the boss battle ends.
