I just bought CiM and I think I'll quite enjoy it, but I'm experiencing some inexplicable lag. I'm wondering if others have encountered it or if my system just doesn't like it. Spec wise (see below), it should be plenty powerful, so I'm somewhat mystified. On highest settings, if I start the first scenario (Berlin Foundations) and immediately zoom out, the in-game framerate reports nothing higher than 12 FPS. My GPU and CPU temps are fine, my GPU never goes over 45% usage and no CPU core goes over 80%, at least according to EVGA Precision and AMD Overdrive. On minimal settings, if I do the same thing, I usually max out around 25 FPS, which is still pretty terrible.

Spec essentials:
Windows 8.1
8 GB RAM (don't remember the speed)
NVidia GTX 580
AMD Phenom II X6, 3.4 GHz
HDD (don't remember specs) that bottlenecks my startup despite not being fragmented.... (sigh....)

If anyone has any idea, that would be appreciated. If not, I do hope to upgrade my rig this winter (and an SSD really soon before installing Windows 10), so hopefully things will improve then.

The consensus seems to be that CiM simply isn't very optimised, and there is always slowdown on larger cities or when there are many transport lines. My system (GTX 660M, i5-3360M@2.8GHz) gets about 20-30fps on Berlin.
I read that some people found disabling Vsync gave them a good performance boost. Also bear in mind that Berlin is the largest map size available and the other smaller cities show better framerates.

That works for me. I've played other games like that (*cough* ARMA *cough*). It's a pain, but I guess I'll live with it, and maybe it will improve a bit when I upgrade my PC. At least I know it's not just me.

Thanks.
