G'day folks,

not long since reinstalled Riddick on here and it seems that the game (at least here) has no 5.1 surround sound.

Sound is set up correctly, only game that should have 5.1 (well it did on the ol xbox version if I recall) that it doesn't.

Anyone else have this issue? otherwise its still a fun game worth checking out.

FIXED IT!

Well found the fix on PCGAMINGWIKI lol.

Basically it has surround sound but only if you set windows to 7.1 sound.

I have a 5.1 amp and didn't even think of this.

Just means I put it back to normal after each session. Ah well. It works now and I'm happy :)

Had a quick look at this and there may be a better solution than changing your speaker setup each time you play the game.


It seems like it may be related to using 5.1 Speaker settings with Side Speakers. Changing it to 5.1 with Rear Speakers could solve the problem for the game.

Better still this means you could use IndirectSound and edit the "dsound.ini" setting this value "milesCompatibility = true". This will cause it to report 5.1 with Rear speakers, so you won't have to change your speaker settings each time you play the game.


I really should play this again sometime, it's been so long and I remember really enjoying it. When it came out it was very impressive.
