When I try to disable full screen mode in the options drop-down menu the game generates a warning message saying: "Windowed mode is not supported, the game will remain in full screen mode." Does anyone know how to force the game to launch in windowed mode?

Additional information:

Dell Latitude E6420.
Windows 7 Enterprise x64 SP1.
Intel Core i7-2640M @2.80GHz.
Intel(R) HD Graphics 3000
4GB RAM
I think GOG disabled windowed mode because it was causing problems in Windows 7.
CO can be forced to use the window mode by altering a registry entry.

If I'm not wrong it should be located at [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Stick Man Games\Chaos Overlords\1.0].
There you can find the following entry:
"prefsFullScreen"=dword:00000001
which, through changing the value from 1 to 0, should cause the game to start in the wished window mode.

A little edit: Maybe the key "disabFullScreen"=dword:00000001 does also have a special role - at least for me it works if I only change the value mentioned before.

I've to mention again: I'm not running this game on windows, so the registry path could be wrong. But you can also search for the string "chaos" in the registry. ;)
And of course: It's not supported, use at your own risk.

Thanks for the responses.

I found the registry value at - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Stick Man Games\1.0\.

For those others looking - if the path listed above does not exit or contain those values, you can indeed to a search using the term "chaos" - but it will take some time as there are many entries to scour.

I then made the appropriate edit and launched Chaos Overlords in windowed mode.
The one issue I have run into so far is the disappearance of the task-bar; it will re-appear when the game is exited.

I have no additional information on problems that you may encounter using this method. As previously stated, please use at your own risk.

Funny thing, I have Windows 7 (64-Bit) and it is not working in Fullscreen mode. However, when changing the registry entry as described by DaZzZuG to set it to window mode the game works all of a sudden ... kind of. I still have a problem with some of the pictures since they are only white squares, comparable to what is described in this topic and the solutions there unfortunately don't work for me
to get to windowed mode, I clicked on "save game" from the menu and while the box was still open to choose a save name, I clicked back to the desktop. then exited from that box to save game. you'll be in a windowed mode of sorts, but it cannot be moved or resized, and will be in the top left corner of the screen.
I always play in this mode. works great, but kind of a hassle as you will have to redo this cycle if you click anywhere else on your desktop or any other program.
