Can I use mostly just the mouse to play this game or do you have to use the keyboard for a lot of it?

There are mouse controls, although not refined yet.
Here's a screenshot of mouse overlay. I think you can also just click on the screen to move around, as well as choose which buttons you want displayed and how big they are.
Also, that screenshot is 3 years old, so there's probably more stuff.
