Greetings fellow GOG gamers. I played Castles long ago when it first came out, and to this day it is one of my all time favorite games. I was completely overjoyed when I discovered GOG.com and was able to download this classic and play it once again. But much to my horror, I quickly realized that this new GOG version was lacking in one very important aspect. The battlefield sound effects. When I originally played this game it was of course done on the floppy disk version. I have wonderful memories of when the archers would start to fire, the little "psh psh" sound effects would kick in. When the infantry or the knights would meet in the middle of the field of battle the slight sound effects of a sword fight would kick in.
I love this game, and although it has been many years since I last played I instantly realized the lack of battle sound effects. It is painful to watch the battle play off and the archers start fireing without any sort of sound to add to it, or for your knights to meet in the middle and there be no comforting clang of metal on metal. It makes it painful to watch, just so increadiably...lacking. I can not fathom why this new release would choose to omit the extremely simple sound effects completely. Why should we have our battle fought without even the most primitive sounds of battle being added in, which they managed to do in the early 90's, but not in 2009-2010? I'm hoping that I'm just missing something and that there is a simple solution, but my gut is telling my that GOG chose to scrap the simple sound effects on the battlefield and gave us nothing in return. Why? I can not stand to play the game and watch my armies fight on with absolutly no sound to back them up, even the most primitive of games manage that, including this one. Why would GOG take that away, for absolutely no reason at all?
Any help, if there is help to be had, would be greatly appreciated. And if not, then an answer from GOG would be most deserving. My thanks in advance.

/bumb any help guys?
I can see that the game has quite a few issues with it's sound and speech. A few times I got that screeching sound at the start or end of the movie, and sometimes the sound just completely cuts off. A good restart fixed it, an it happens very rarely, but it's an issue. I would speculate that they ejected the battle sounds because of this instability, since you can speed up the game by holding the right mouse button, and fighting with so much interpolating sounds can be a stability nightmare. Perhaps that's the reason for this course of action, but I'm just speculating. It's an old game with old sound files, you rarely get everything working right.
have you tried updating DOSBox to 0.74 ?
