So from when i had previously tried to install the original from disk a while back, i had DOSBox installed on my machine and it has been ever since.

Now after installing the game from GOG and attempting to start it, it automatically runs the game in DOSBox still. Is this correct? Would i be better off removing this from my machine to play it now they have stabilized it for Vista etc?

The dosbox GOG installs runs from its own folder, so you don't need to remove your dosbox.

GoG version runs on Dosbox but if you download the Windows 95 patch thats stickied on this forum you can run it without.

Ahh right okay so even if i had not had it already installed it still would have run with DOSBox. Considering i am running this on a laptop that is a few years old do we think that i am better off using that or using the Win95 patch? Will there be a noticable difference?
