The game isnt saving my progress. The manual says its supposed to save automatically after every race but it isn't.

I have tried:
Installed to 'C:/GOG Games' so it isn't a 'Program Files' thing.
Running as Admin didn't work
Tried changing every folder/file so they WEREN'T read-only. Didn't work.
EDIT: Also tried reinstalling but still had the same problem.

Not sure what else i could try so any help would be great.

SOLVED: I'M AN IDIOT :D

You have to go to LOAD GAME (who knew eh?) as it just starts a new game every time you load it up.

In the game settings there is an option called Auto Load. If you turn this on then it reloads your progress automatically when you start the game.

The SAVEDGAMES.ARS file is normal for non-GOG version too. I was playing on my non-GOG version but I now have the GOG version (non-GOG version doesn't play music from .OGG files). I was easily able to restore my progress by copying my SAVEDGAMES.ARS file from my non-GOG installation to my GOG installation.

However, the save spamming is probably true, as my one SAVEDGAMES.ARS file contains a lot of saves within it.
