I'm running Carma2 CD Version on my netbook (Win7 Starter) using the Carma2_HW 'Win95 Patch'

Playability is great but I'm getting no sound at all. Have tried to toggle with 'S' key, messed around with menus, compat. settings etc. No joy. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm also wondering whether the GoG version is likely to fare any better? How is it 'put together', so to speak?
I was advised the sound issue can be rectified by running Carma2_HW.exe directly instead of using the launcer.

Bizarrely, this just causes Carma2_HW.exe to crash (in my case)

I can get around this by using the glide wrapper, but this causes a massive performance hit - making the game unplayable.

Does the GoG version use the glide wrapper, original launcher or other mods/patches?
GOG have made further fixes to the superpatch that allows for working music.

And they are using nGlide.

If only those of us with non-GOG versions could get the further fixes to the superpatch for working music. I've resorted to playing the music in a media player in the background.
Or just support GOG by buying it. I understand some ppl won't shell out cash twice for the same game, but GOG's releases are worth every penny.

I daresay I will re-buy in time, but the drive isn't there to do so when I already have it and it works (just without music natively).

I'd happily re-buy if I was convinced it'd work. I've been burned by a few GoG releases lately :/

Is the nglide wrapper the 084c version that's been knocking around for a while? I've been unable to get decent performance with that...

No idea. I always replace the installer nGlide with the latest version...
I have wonderful performance with everything maxed, VSync off, music changes doesn't lag gameplay and it works fine even at 1280x720. If it's too bright you can reduce gamma to less or even 0.5. Oh and this have newest nglide preinstalled.

I'd say Iron Maiden is not my favorite band as I prefer tracks from Carma1 and Splat Pack but fits gameplay well. Songs play in random order, sometimes the same track 3 times in a row, sometimes just once but often I just press S twice to shuffle to the other 3 unique track without vocal. You can even replace all of them by using your own OGG track renamed accordingly.

All of this on Intel GMA (Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express). Miracles. ;-)

I torrented this game and didn't work. Then I bought on GOG and worked like a charm. Looks good and has Iron Maiden. Perfect to run over people.
Just buy the GOG version, works like a charm!
